Pancreas
A1Med currently features the following specialist centre for pancreas treatments
University Medical Centre (UKE), Hamburg, Germany
Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf
The Pancreas Clinic at UKE is unique in Germany in offering a specialist, multidisciplinary approach to pancreas treatments. The Clinic is dedicated to the treatment of patients with benign and malignant diseases of the pancreas and performs over 500 major pancreatic operations each year, as well as a very high number of endoscopic procedures.
Led by Prof. Jakob Izbicki the UKE Pancreas Clinic is one of the leading research centres in the world in the field of pancreatic cancer.
CyberKnife® radiosurgery centres for pancreatic cancer
Note: CyberKnife® radiosurgery is only suitable for a limited number of cases of pancreatic cancer and it usually forms only part of a wider treatment programme, where treatment is possible.
Proton therapy centres for pancreatic cancer
Note: proton therapy can be applied wherever conventional radiotherapy can be used, but because the radiation is more closely focussed on the tumour(s) it greatly reduces the impact of radiation on sound tissue and it can sometimes be applied even after the patient has received the maximum conventional radiotherapy. For the pancreas it can be used to treat tumours in the head, body or papilla.
In addition we feature the following centres for pancreatic cancer.
Zurich, Switzerland
Athens, Greece
