Physiotherapists around the world regularly treat sports and other injuries with low-power laser therapy and this is probably the most common use of phototherapy (light therapy) by medical professionals today.
It is used routinely to accelerate healing in professional sports clubs, where players taking time out due to injuries is a major concern, and it is even used on race horses for similar reasons.
Despite requiring special training, eye protection and closed treatment rooms the benefits to wound healing are substantial enough to outweigh these costs and disadvantages in many situations.
Now non-laser phototherapy is also available, offering many advantages over laser treatments, especially for larger wound areas.  It brings the benefits of phototherapy in a safer and more accessible form and is easy and convenient to use .
Swiss manufacturers have taken the lead in non-laser phototherapy and of these Q.Products AG has the widest range for different medical applications and the most flexible models.
Some physiotherapists however, whilst attracted, have held back from offering laser therapy because of these factors.
Treatment diameter of up to 40cm, far larger than the biggest cluster probe.

For very small areas, e.g. a single knuckle joint or inaccessible locations, laser therapy retains the advantage.  For medium and larger areas Q.Light® PRO offers faster and more even treatment.

Lower light intensity means no eye protection is needed and there is no requirement for closed treatment rooms.  Patients can be treated wherever it is convenient.

No special training required and no danger of overdosing.
Light spectrum for phototherapy
Q.Light® PRO is a modular system, with a choice of easily-interchangeable filter modules for different treatments.

Muscle strains and injuries are usually treated with visible plus near infra-red light in the range 385-1700nm.  Where the heating effect of infra-red can be uncomfortable for patients the therapist can simply change filter modules and treat without infra-red, in the range 385-780nm.

Alternatively for pain relief a combination of visible red and near infra-red in the range 580-1,700nm can be selected.  There are also filter modules for other medical and cosmetic applications, from skin cancer to cellulite.  The full range and details of stands can be seen on the Q.Light Accessories page.
