Q.LightŪ Psoriasis Care

Light therapy for psoriasis
Psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis?  Whichever category your particular complaint falls into you will know how distressing these conditions can be. How intractable they can be too, flaring up and dying down from reasons which may or may not be obvious.

Often there is no cure as such, just a process of management: treating where you can,  learning to cope with what you can't treat and avoiding known sources of irritation.
There are many underlying causes and it is not possible to predict with any certainty what will work, either alone or in combination with other therapies, in any one individual and over time.
Many sufferers find that their condition eases in summer when exposed to strong sunlight and professional treatments are now widely available based upon ultra-violet light, which is also found in natural sunlight.  These work for some people but not for others and ultra-violet light can have a damaging on the skin and be dangerous if too much is applied.
ultra-violet helps but burns
It is of course the ultra-violet in sunlight that is now leading to a steady increase in reported skin cancers around the world.
psoriasis treatment without ultra-violet
Q.Products AG in Switzerland specialises in manufacturing non-laser phototherapy devices based on visible light and makes a wide range of professional and home models, of which Q.LightŪ Psoriasis Care is just one.
Q.LightŪ Psoriasis Care provides a carefully balance spectrum of visible light only in the range 385-780nm, without either infra-red or ultra-violet.
There is another form of light therapy for psoriasis however that is free from these harmful effects, and that is based on purely visible light frequencies.
What are the advantages of treating with visible light only?

Without ultra-violet there is no danger of burning or over-dosing.  The skin simply absorbs the light energy that it needs and ignores anything extra.

No special eye protection is required so visible light is inherently safe to use without training and therapy devices need not be confined to doctors.

Because they can be sold without restriction in most countries, the portable models for specialists are also available and are affordable to home users.

Light therapy works best when applied daily, so a system that allows regular  self-treatment at home can effectively supplement visits to a therapist.

Of course Q.LightŪ does not replace the doctor, but by boosting the body's own natural repair process, it can usually be used alongside existing therapies.
Light therapy has been shown to increase microcirculation in the treated skin and to energise the cells, improving and balancing their natural function, so when moisturisers are applied after light therapy the take-up is increased.
Whilst no guarantee of effectiveness for any particular person or condition can be given, Q.LightŪ Psoriasis Care is likely to assist in most cases and visible light therapy may also make existing treatment regimes more effective.
