Radiotherapie Hirslanden

Zurich and Aarau, Switzerland

The Hirslanden Group is Switzerland's largest private hospital group with 14 clinics around the country. Within the Group, Radiotherapie Hirslanden AG provides a full range of diagnostic, surgical and therapeutical services in conjunction with Oncology, Urology and other departments.
These include Trilogy® advanced radiotherapy, da Vinci® robotic surgery and the latest technology in other areas such as cardiac care.
CyberKnife treatments are carried out at Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich, the flagship hospital of the Hirslanden Group. This is a major, full service hospital with scanning, individual intensive care units and a wide range of medical specialities on site.
Trilogy radiotherapy in Zurich
The decision on whether and how to treat is made after a complete evaluation of the patient. This includes consideration of the type of disease, size and number of tumours, localization and the age and general condition of the patient.
If you need radiotherapy, either conventional or stereotactic, this is available without delay. In many countries patients report long delays in obtaining radiotherapy, due to shortage of equipment, radiographers or both. At Radiotherapie Hirslanden, radiotherapy is usually available as soon as international patients can arrange to attend.
Cancer treatments in Switzerland
Where potential CyberKnife cases require personal, on-site assessment Hirslanden offers a fixed price review package. This includes airport transfers, accommodation for one night at a local hotel, a CT scan, an examination and a consultation.
Placement of fiducials
Some CyberKnife treatments (but not brain or spine) require placement of small metal fiducials as markers to guide the delivery of radiation beams and these must then be allowed to settle for about a week before treatment can be given.

CyberKnife® treatments are available in Zurich for the brain, spine, prostate, pancreas, liver and lung. Hirslanden collaborates closely with the CyberKnife centre in Nice (France), established by the French National Cancer Institute, and they are working together to extend treatments to further areas of the body.
CyberKnife radiosurgery in Zurich
Radiotherapie Hirslanden will consider which form of treatment or combination of treatments would be most suitable for your case, so you have the benefit of their expertise in many areas, including minimally invasive surgery. You also have all the support offered by a full service, multi-speciality  hospital, should you gave any other requirements at the same time.
No waiting for radiotherapy patients
This is a normal part of the  treatment process and you should remain in Switzerland for this period. A ‘compulsory holiday’ in Switzerland is preferable to open surgery in a hospital however!
If you proceed promptly to treatment, i.e. before a new scan becomes necessary, approximately half of this fee will be credited against your treatment cost. Where CyberKnife radiosurgery is not indicated Hirslanden may still be able to offer other treatment.
