'Robotic' surgery
So called 'robotic' surgery is more properly the use of telemanipulation to assist surgeons in conducting delicate operations, such as nerve preserving prostate surgery, by the use of camera magnification and relaying of the surgeon's hand movements to inserted instruments.
Transplant surgery
Availability of transplant surgery across national boundaries is limited but some centres now offer live donor transplants for kidney or liver. We outline some of the possibilities and difficulties and give details of transplant centres performing live donor transplants.
